Last Minute is how I do things. Today is April 9th, the accountant has already called several times, so I am finishing my bookwork Last Minute. In school it was homework, the worst was term papers even when I actually enjoyed the research and the process, I just always waited til Last Minute. Mom worked and I had chores to do before she got home, they got done but always at the Last Minute. When I was teaching Sunday school and helping with Youth Club I did many interactive lessons, I loved the creative process but Last Minute is when everything came together. I have been known to pull all-nighters wrapping Christmas presents at Last Minute, that one always puts me in a bad mood because I do know better than to wait til Last Minute for wrapping. To this day Last Minute is still how I do things, it seems to be when my best creative ideas come into play. The problem with Last Minute action is I always have so many ideas and I'm getting too old to pull all-nighters that it usually takes to pull these creative ideas together. Now at least doing Last Minute is done with lists in a more organized process, but still Last Minute.
My latest project hosting a birthday dinner for my daughter-in-law and youngest son's firancee was planned, organized and put together at Last Minute. Usually doing things Last Minute result in some compromise on something I have planned, for the birthday dinner it came in the form of desert. I knew I didn't want to do a birthday cake assuming they would have one with their families so I decided on cupcakes and cookies for our desert. I thought I would bake them and with time running short I made the executive decision to send Keith to the store to purchase them. I would much rather decorate than bake any day of the week! My Last Minute decision seemed to be the best decision I made from the inception of this party, that is until Keith came in the back door with his hands full and I heard the quiet thud of plastic hitting the floor and no immediate reaction from him. I knew it wasn't good as I came around the corner and saw the color gone from his face and a look of sheer disbelief. So we had Last Minute upside down cupcakes to revive into usable desert. The messy part was scrapping the smashed icing off, which truth be told I wasn't quite thrilled with the color choice. So in a Last Minute attempt to pull it together I remembered one of my many projects to try was saved in drawer; I knew I had a pastry bag with some decorating tips and with a can of pre-made icing we were able to save the desert Last Minute.
As with each new endeavor I will try, I know Last Minute creations will prevail. In my heart I strive for the day that when my Last Minute is upon me, I will have Finished a Masterpiece of Sharing Love, Laughter, and Goodness for others to wrap their hearts around and pass on in their lives.

The Last Minute upside down cupcakes.
At least they stayed contained in the container so we could salvage the cupcakes.
