I had a suprise party for my sister's #60 birthday. Her favorite colors of purple and red were used and we combined her love of quilting, family, and a 50's theme.
I used purple paper off the roll for the tables, added a pink runner cut from a roll of wallpaper, then another runner of decorated tissue paper and put table decorations down the center of table on the runners.
Cake table was decorated with red paper and an birthday printed overlay. We served a white decorated birthday cake. wonderful chocolate cupcakes and a variety of cookies made by Bev Hallowell.
Incorporating her love of sewing and quilting, I used small hoops, a pin cusion with wire holders stuck in them to hold fun pictures of her.
A two layer centerpiece made of a wood circle covered with a mirror and a tape measure glued on it and topped with a 33pm album. The second layer uses a glass cake stand topped with 45 record, a large fase filled with buttons and a bunch of live flowers. Small added touches include hotwheel size blue t-birds (my sister used to have one) , jacks, and pink poodles.
A 45 record topped with a small mirror, and an icecream dish full of treats.
My great niece was a real sport, even putting on the red caateye glasses,
Great nieces posing for a picture in their costumes.
Birthday sign I painted, hanging from the ceiling are large quilting hoops with material that coordinates with party colors.
All guests were asked to bring scrap pages of special times they spent with Janet. This is great nephew Jaxon showing her his & Parkers pages.
I also put up a poster board titled '60 Things You May Not Know About Janet' and everyone was able to write things they knew about he,r as you can see they enjoyed this.
For an extra touch we arranged to have a family photo taken.
I brought my old Coke cooler in to put ice for drinks in and coordinate with the 50's theme.
I borrowed a free standing bulletin board and put scrapbook pages on it. I made pages especially for Janet of her early years all in black & white and on color coordinated papers.
Present table was decorated with a large sign I painted, red cat eye glasses, a 53 t-bird, and an orginal centerpiece. Red paper and a bday overlay.
Mirrors topped with a 45 record, a fishbowl vase filled with buttons and a candle also decorated the tables.
A blue t-bird, and couldn't host a 50's party without cateye galsses.
I purchased poodle skirt costumes at Halloween for the great nieces to wear to add to the fun at the party, they loved it.
Pink poodles included in the decorations. I found a few very special ceramic poodles that were our grandmothers.
Super, Sensational, and Sixty napkins.
For fun we brought hoola hoops and yes she could still do it.
I hung a red quilt and added misc.photos to it of Janet at special times in our lives.
Enjoying the festivities. We tied streamers to balloons to hang lose above the tables.
