Our Project House
Our son purchased a house to rennovate and resale a few years ago and we helped him on the process. It was such a rewarding project to see it thru from beginning to end that we thought it was something we would do again. On a freezing Kansas winter day my husband went to an auction, along with only one other person that was brave enough to venture out. He purchased this 1920's Bungalow style home at the auction and so our journey began.

Clean Up
I spent the summer cleaning out the contents of the house. It had not been lived in for over 40 years according to the neighbors, but had been used for storage. Sadly it had been broke into and vandalized many times and was just trashed. Most of the contents were disposed of, but I was able to salvage some family heirlooms of photo albums to pass on to family members.

A Long Summer
While I was cleaning out the inside, the outside was undergoing major changes. First on the list was a new roof and the neighbors were so happy because every time the Kansas wind blew, they got wood shingles scattered thru their yards. Next was taking all the old stucco off the house which turned out to be a huge job and we would not have been able to accomplish this on our own, so thanks to our sons for their hard, hard work taking it off with chisels and crow bars.

Insulation
Although this house is built with incredible insulation value; it has tongue and groove lathe & plaster siding
on the outside & inside of the house, we still added recycled insulation in the walls.

Progress
New roof, stucco gone, new storm windows & door, trim painted,
and new siding is on. Neighbors are so happy to have the eyesore gone
from their neighborhood.
